R&D PROJECT LIFECYCLE MANAGER

SOFTWARE AND PROCESSES FOR
YOUR IN-PROGRESS PROJECT PIPELINE MANAGEMENT

What is your challenge as you see it?

”Across our business units, we have different methodologies for product realization to accommodate the diverse nature of our products. Across our business units, we have differing reporting and compliance requirements as well. However, we need to manage across all these projects and cost centers with one single tool for lifecycle management. As the project moves through different phases and gates, we need automation on routing and approvals to push the project through successive gates. We need to capture engineering change requests, scope changes as the projects move through the pipeline. Finally we have Senior Management Reporting to be done across product lines, to be sent to the Senior Leaders.”

What solutions do you have today?

”Today, we have software pieces to handle many pipelines, one for each product. Hence, every pipeline is managed in isolation. When it comes to reporting, they send in PowerPoint documents. We do not have visibility into what is happening within a project, firm-wide, on a weekly-monthly basis. Getting data on-demand is only a dream at this point.”

What exactly do you need and why is different?

You need a “methodology engine” that allows projects to follow a disciplined path to delivery, along with rules for checkpoints and decision points along the lifecycle pipeline. You need a system that would, at each Gate or a checkpoint, do the routing and approvals to different stakeholders. The phases and tasks within the methodology, as well as the routing and approvals must be user configurable. Above all, the system has to be able to spot the progress of projects along the pipeline, address the issues and hurdles, evaluate their ongoing need, and be able to reprioritize, reschedule and re-deploy in a timely fashion.

What does GRIP R&D Lifecycle Manager do? (What are its features?)

GRIP R&D Project Lifecycle Manager offers a unique “rule-based engine” which allows dynamic configuration of multiple methodologies, and the work breakdown structure within the phases. It also has a workflow engine that facilitates routing and approvals to be configured at will. It allows the PASS/FAIL/Conditional Pass through different gates, as a result of multiple approval stages. GRIP Project Lifecycle Manager allows the visualization of issues, risks and hurdles, along with the engineering and scope changes. GRIP R&D Project Lifecycle Manager provides a clear “pipeline analyzer” that enables the push-pull” – rescheduling of projects through successive gates in a timely fashion.
