What is your challenge as you see it?

”As an R&D Manager I see many challenges to capturing, categorizing, sizing up and approving opportunities. There is no easy way to nurture new ideas, grow each new idea into a mature and full-fledged business case, ready for approval. As the new idea grows, depending on the type of opportunity, we want to capture data relevant to that opportunity and route it to different stakeholders, specific to the nature of the opportunity. What solutions do you have today?

”Today, we use different mechanisms: some parts of my organization use software for making business cases, but that does not serve all the users. Some feel it is an overkill to use, as it is asking for too much data. Others use simple word documents to capture ideas. They all have to re-keyed into excel spreadsheets, and we attach weights and ranking, but then, that is static as well. We have two people responsible for manually capturing and grouping ideas, attaching weights and ranks and sorting them. I meet with them every week, and we make decisions. For the selected opportunities, we create a PowerPoint report and then present it to the CFO. Every quarter when we meet with the CFO, we discuss the opportunities and seek funding. This is a manual intensive, laborious process that is not intuitive.”
