SOFTWARE AND PROCESSES FOR SUCCESSFULLY
MANAGING ACROSS IT PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES

What is your challenge as you see it?

”As a PMO director, I have challenges of approving new IT Demand, I have challenges of addressing escalated issues, risks and dependencies among our in-progress projects, pushing them through successive Gates, which differ from project to project. I have challenges in terms of reprioritization, rescheduling and re-deployment of projects in a t

What solutions do you have today?

”Today, we conduct Project Initiation Board to discuss incoming projects, Production Readiness Board to move projects into production, Project Control Board to discuss project issues, risks and dependencies, and Project Gate Review Board to discuss Gate pass/Fail issues. Every meeting has different stakeholders and meetings are held on a weekly basis for three hours, and different project managers bring many paper copies of documents for signoff. Stakeholders bring each a list of compiled issues, risks and action items to the meeting. As all information exchanged are subjective, we do not have real visibility into what is happening within a project, firm-wide, on a weekly-monthly basis. Getting data on-demand is only a dream at this point.”

What exactly do you need and why is it different?

You need a “methodology engine” that allows projects to follow a disciplined path to delivery, along with rules for checkpoints and decision points along the lifecycle pipeline. You need a system that would, at each Gate or a checkpoint, do the routing and approvals to different stakeholders. The phases and tasks within the methodology, as well as the routing and approvals must be user configurable. Above all, the system has to be able to spot the progress of projects along the pipeline, address the issues and hurdles, evaluate their ongoing need, and be able to reprioritize, reschedule and re-deploy in a timely fashion.

What does GRIP-IT PMO Center do? (What are its features?)

GRIP-IT PMO Center offers a unique “rule-based engine” which allows dynamic configuration of multiple methodologies, and the work breakdown structure within the phases. It also has a workflow engine that facilitates routing and approvals to be configured at will. It allows the PASS/FAIL/Conditional Pass through different gates, as a result of multiple approval stages. GRIP-IT PMO Center allows the visualization of issues, risks and hurdles, along with the engineering and scope changes. GRIP-IT PMO Center provides a clear “pipeline analyzer” that enables the push-pull” – rescheduling of projects through successive gates in a timely fashion.

Part of the Bigger Picture…

GRIP-IT PMO Center is part of the overarching GRIP management framework.
